About Hot by Thirty

  • Desperate not to spend another summer hiding out in fat and/or maternity clothes, I'm determined to drop thirty pounds of baby weight by my thirtieth birthday- July 18, 2009. How unfortunate, then, that I prefer to spend nap time in front of my television with a vat of ice cream. But I've lost these same thirty pounds twice before and I can do it again. I shall do this by steering clear of white flour and sugar and moving my stumpy legs as fast as they will go on our new treadmill. In front of the television, of course. I like what you say about the whole plan for every day and then see what happens. I am convinced 30 DS ups the metabolism. I am only doing it a few times a week, but I've lost weight since I started and I think that's part of it.
I love that you plan to keep going with the exercising. There is not one reason you shouldn't be able to get smaller if that's what you want to do. Do you feel like 'fitness gal' is becoming part of your identity? As I am becoming a regular at my gym, I am feeling like I am defining a new side to myself. It's nice.
Meanwhile, I went for a run today and came home and saw a fantastic number on the scale. THen I went to a superbowl party. Nuff said. Back on the horse tomorrow eh?

Hey, I didn't make my Jan 31 goal by a longshot. I am pretty disappointed that I've spent a lot of January feeling HUNGRY and/or SORE, with not much to show for it. Saturday I bought new khakis that were a size smaller than the ones I was wearing, but it didn't feel as victorious as I thought it'd be.

I can see the logic of planning to exercise every day - the mental boon, I mean - but what helps ME mentally is knowing that on Wednesdays, I get a day off. Will have to ponder further.

You may kill me for saying this, but my body is also different than it was the last time I was at this weight, but it's good. It's SMALLER than it was last time I weighed this. Granted, that was in high school, but still. It's different! I think it's the muscles I have now.

Your weight is on your driver's license?! Thank God they don't do that here in Florida!

You heard it from me (I think) and I heard it from an old trainer. I think that guilt goes straight to my thighs. The accompanying chocolate has nothing to do with it.

All right on the (ultimately) good news! You are right--guilt is sabotage when you want to get in shape. And what about recovery time for your muscles? I think that's a good thing.

Cannot believe you have to list your weight on your license!!! Ugh.

It's weird how our bodies seem to react differently after each kid. With Shea I lost it all right away (while breastfeeding). This time I am sort-of-trying to lose it, but the last ten pounds are stubbornly sticking (still while breastfeeding). It's not a horrible place to be, but still. Meh.
