About Hot by Thirty

  • Desperate not to spend another summer hiding out in fat and/or maternity clothes, I'm determined to drop thirty pounds of baby weight by my thirtieth birthday- July 18, 2009. How unfortunate, then, that I prefer to spend nap time in front of my television with a vat of ice cream. But I've lost these same thirty pounds twice before and I can do it again. I shall do this by steering clear of white flour and sugar and moving my stumpy legs as fast as they will go on our new treadmill. In front of the television, of course. I am SO right there with you. Except the opposite is true for my body changes. My baby belly is hanging around while little things a whittled away elsewhere. Sigh. I think we should do that makeover show where they show you how to dress your body to flatter it. Because we have to relearn.

Also? I'm up 1/2 a pound this week. Last week I stayed the same, and was thrilled about it what with Thanksgiving and all. But this week I have no excuse. Except all the Christmas cookies that are on top of my fridge. Must get rid of them.

Goal for this week? 1 1/2 pounds to at least get back on the down slope!


I totally know what you mean. Fridays are my best day too. My WW weigh-in day is Monday - I know you can change it, but that's how it was when I started and I just have a "thing" about keeping it that way. Anyway - Fridays are ALWAYS my lowest. So you know what I've started doing? I've been cheating. Only sometimes. And putting my friday weight down on Monday. Can't believe I just wrote that out loud. I'm such a dork.

And weighing every day? UM, YEAH. How can you not?

BUT! I only have FIVE POUNDS to go until I've lost all of my Jakie weight. (I had a little rebound after I hit my hot by thirty goal...) FIVE POUNDS. So the goal is now to have it gone by Christmas. I know. What am I trying to do to myself! But so far so good. We'll see.


I was doing fantabulous until Friday. Like 1 pound away from my Christmas goal and 7 away from my real goal. Now I am 4.2 away from Christmas goal. But I am venturing out to the gym RIGHT now so, baby steps. I heart this site. Please do keep it until you are thirty. Also, funny how priorities change. I have given up pop and cheeseburgers and sugar in my coffee (ew so gross I now realize)but I will NEVER give up red wine. I won't even feel bad about it.
