About Hot by Thirty

  • Desperate not to spend another summer hiding out in fat and/or maternity clothes, I'm determined to drop thirty pounds of baby weight by my thirtieth birthday- July 18, 2009. How unfortunate, then, that I prefer to spend nap time in front of my television with a vat of ice cream. But I've lost these same thirty pounds twice before and I can do it again. I shall do this by steering clear of white flour and sugar and moving my stumpy legs as fast as they will go on our new treadmill. In front of the television, of course. I think you should go with the 5.5 pounds lost! Although, if your scale changes its mind next week, that might be depressing.

I'm down 2 pounds this week. Coulda been more, but I feel like some days I'm totally gung-ho and some days are half-assed. I mean, you saw me consume that chocolate doughnut yesterday. And that was followed by the rest of the halloween candy that unwisely made it into my freezer. I've never really had to diet before - this kinda sucks....

I've heard of scales messing with people's heads, but not this way! Your attitude sounds great.

I'm still holding on to the same 2 lb. loss I've had since the summer. I'm thinking I just need to hang in there until I finish grad school to get rid of the other 8.

You kind of ROCK, Maggie.

Me? I've started walking every morning for 30 minutes before work. A bum knee has made running not so comfortable for me, so I've opted for walking instead. I'm really enjoying being outside, so far....

Well, I didn't weigh myself (on a decent scale) until last Thursday and let's just say I've upped my weight loss goal to 30 lbs. I know, I know, you're not supposed to go by numbers but by how you feel, blah blah blah...but I am a numbers PERSON! I have to know the exact amount! I'll start checking in next week. Congrats!

I'm kind of in awe of you. All that you're doing with 2 kids, 2 blogs AND diet and exercise.
You're kind of my hero........
I just hope I can be as motivated and gung-ho as you are when the time comes!

I lost a pound and a half!

Also, I think you should get a new scale. We had one that gave totally fluctuating numbers like that and when it finally broke, it turned out that it had been 10 pounds too low, which was a tragic, tragic discovery. Now we have this new scale that we got for like $25 that is extremely consistent and matches exactly with the scales in three different doctor's offices. It is worth the investment if you're serious about losing weight to make sure you are really, accurately tracking numbers.

I lost 2.2...it is amazing what happens when I reintroduce veggies to my diet. Ha!

I'm a couple days late with this but I did not gain, and did not lose. I had thought last week that I'd gained back 2.5 lbs, which felt like a failure and a disaster and really really made me angry. But turns out it was only PESKY Auntie F. messing with me. (Sorry, TMI.) Anyway, I realized I could be down to my pre-preg weight in 4 weeks if I really try hard, and that would be COOL. (I've been at this a bit longer than you, of course.)

...And then I'll only have those 10 lbs I needed to lose after the first baby, to go!

I was stoked about this. :)
