About Hot by Thirty

  • Desperate not to spend another summer hiding out in fat and/or maternity clothes, I'm determined to drop thirty pounds of baby weight by my thirtieth birthday- July 18, 2009. How unfortunate, then, that I prefer to spend nap time in front of my television with a vat of ice cream. But I've lost these same thirty pounds twice before and I can do it again. I shall do this by steering clear of white flour and sugar and moving my stumpy legs as fast as they will go on our new treadmill. In front of the television, of course. You can also find me at mightymaggie.com.

Excellent.
I want to lose twenty pounds ish, by January 1st. What better time than during all three major food related holidays!
No, I know when we can do it. When is your birthday?
My first short term goal is to get off my kiester and actually run those three miles I've been thinking about running for a month now.
Preferably today.

Count me in! As of today, I have 14 lbs of baby weight remaining. After that, 30 lbs of toddler weight (sigh). Then, I'd be happy with 10 lbs of me weight.

30 comes on November 10. So if I can accomplish, at least, phase 1 by then...I'll be happy. :-)

Julie

Alright - I'm in. And I'll be completely honest with you guys - since I don't know you. Heh...

I am 30 years old, I weigh 164 lbs, and ideally would like to lose 30 lbs.

And I have had no babies, so I have no one to blame but myself. And BlueBell ice cream pints. They are partially at fault.

I trained for and ran a 5K last fall, and was so proud of myself..I'd like to do it again this year. It took a lot of willpower, which I normally have none of (see above: BlueBell ice cream pints), but I did it! So I know I can do it again.

I'm playing along, but not planning to lose any weight (Don't hate! I'm only (nearly) 24. No babies.) - but I do need motivation to get be healthy.

Walking, running, eating better. :)

Liz

This girl is in. I'm starting today too. Today right now. Starting with a grocery list. I have to get over the terrible ice cream and other various sweets habits I created when I was pregnant. And after all the pizza and wedding cake from this weekend, I have 33 pounds to lose. I would LOVE to lose 40, but I'd rather be realistic. Here we go kids - let the fun begin. HOT BY THIRTY!

Emily

I promise to join in as soon as I birth my own infant in December, but until then, may I just say FOUR WEEKS? ARE YOU SERIOUS? How did it go by so... fast?

Erin

Okay, I have never commented on any blog before, but I figure my motivation has to come from somewhere. I'd like to lose 25 lbs. by summertime. I hope this will help keep me accountable (and away from my mother-in-law's unbelievable brownies).

Jessica

I still have 3 weeks of baby baking left, but as soon as he is hatched, I am SO IN. (did I just say hatched?)

I'm pretty sure I need to lose at least 30 pounds... by whenever. I have gestational diabetes now, so I think how I'm eating now will have some part of how I will eat then, too.

Katrina

Ok - me too. No baby weight, but at 175, I would like to lose 25 pounds to get down to 150 (which is actually a pretty svelte weight for me and my dense body). I like the idea of steering clear of white flour and sugar, and am adding processed foods to my list as well. And I'm working on the exercise front - I started this program http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml yesterday. Whoohoooo!

Julie

@Katrina - The Couch to 5K plan on coolrunning.com was what I used to train for my 5K last year. It was awesome! I'm using it again this go round, too. Good luck!

Ellie

(for some reason, this post didn't pop up in my bloglines until today)

So, yeah, I'm in. Have lost 30lb of 40lb baby weight. That makes 10lb more to get to pre-baby weight, and I'm all for any extra that comes along. If I was to set any goals for your 30th birthday in July, I'd say another 20. That'd be super ;-) My 30th birthday has past, and 31 is too close.

(And just for the record {the record being this blog}, I turned 30 when my son was two days old, and we were in the hospital. The hospital, where they give you cake every day to celebrate your new baby. And if we're being honest, that 40lb wasn't just baby. It was cake. Have I mentioned how much I love cake?)
